I was initially pretty skeptical of Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle as I have seen a hundred “Miracle Diets” come and go over the years and did not expect anything more, even from a competitive bodybuilder. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised and I am very happy to have found this book.,particularly since I feel it makes perfect sense.
As I really believe you are what you eat, I loved some of Tom’s food information. It lists the 12 foods you should never eat and the 12 foods you should eat every day. The program will help you determine what body type you are and what foods you should be eating for that body type. Eating the wrong foods, even if they are generally considered healthy, will hinder, or even prevent your weight loss.
Far more than just another weight loss “fix”; with this program you have a strong chance of keeping the weight off for good.
The Good and the Not So Good
On the positive side this book is really packed with a lot of detail about eating: what to eat, when to eat, how to eat. It also thoroughly covers cardio and weight training workouts. Fortunately it is written in an easy to read and engaging style. It definitely does away with hype and does a very good job of training you to think, eat and exercise right so you can effectively drop all the weight you want and keep it off. But more than just losing fat or weight it emphasizes the need to go back to a healthier lifestyle, one you can and should maintain for the rest of your life.
On the negative side the techniques outlined in Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle require effort, determination and discipline. It reminds you that you should be realistic from the start. In addition there is no guarantee you will get the body you want. Not everyone can be a supermodel – everyone’s body type and metabolic rates are different and you have to work within the limits imposed by your DNA. Tom is quite clear about that.
Nonetheless, everyone can achieve dramatic weight loss if they have lots of weight to lose and the results will be long-lasting.
